Ode to 2025 by Trenton Krzyzowski

Trenton Krzyzowski (Poetry) — Ode to 2025 (poem)

Bragging before

This is something out of that ordinary subjugation

I read Dostevsky’s “The Idiot”

And leaned in and out of –

Learning is a need – you can either fulfill or walk away from love

Even those non-binary bisexuals

Experiment with the fountain of gold

Joy matters more than a transaction

Even if it is so

I got a little too excited about religion, but

The divine has a funny way

Of letting easy down the spiritually pure-intentioned;

I don’t like convenient marketing tricks; I prefer products that constitute integrity;

You might think it is vague or self-appeasing

Life is hard sometimes,

and for solid reasons, too

Authenticity has a beautiful way of

Comfortably enlightening its spot on the

Neighborhood couch, like the kid who comments on the blunt rotation

Friends come and go

Lovers must be foundationally consistent; if only you were honest with yourself,

You’d get to work on time

The center of gravity within our torsos;

We have more than enough

The sun is the kind of thing this solar system revolves around —

Sweet mother death —

You are still a cool cat —

Supposedly, we aren’t too different,

Much, after all.
